Pichwai paintings are one of the most renowned folk art forms of India. These paintings are very intricate and detail-oriented. During the first pandemic, ArtSage, an idea came to my mind after thinking about how local artists were suffering during these hard times. Being an artist myself, I can empathise with the struggle an artist has to go through to get their work in the market. If I talk about Indian folk & tribal artists, most of the communities live in the rural section of the country. Due to a lack of resources & support, these artists leave their traditional legacy of art to opt for other jobs. As far as some folk-art forms are concerned, there are only a few families left in the country which pursue them. Simultaneously, the plight of most contemporary artists is far from satisfactory. Because of the ‘more supply and less demand’ scenario, most contemporary artists struggle to get buyers for their artworks.
